Senior Belt Update

Roisin McGinley welcomed everyone to the 52nd year of the NAFC Belt, a prestigious award which has an illustrious history. The "belt" competition is open to any dancer who has placed 1st in Open Championship at an NAFC sanctioned feis. Today there are 20 dancers, "the best of the best" who will be showcasing their talents in front of a 5 adjudicator panel.

The dancers are currently dancing their set round, and we will have the results available immediately on Twitter (my user name is StephRincePix), and soon after they will be here.

Mr. Tommy Blake was also presented with a Perpetual Trophy that will be awarded to Open Championship U16, in his honour. Tommy, an active NAFC member, has been instrumental in the success of the 35 yr old Greater Toronto Feis (formerly known as the Etobicoke Feis). This feis is the longest running feis in Canada, and every year dancers travel long distances to attend. Famous for it's "Cuchulainn" trophies for Open Championship (or as my daughter called it when she was young "the big honkin' trophy") the Greater Toronto Feis will surely continue to be a favourite for dancers and their families for years to come. Congratulations to Tommy, and the McGinley School!

Things are well underway!

Stages started very promptly at 8:30 a.m....a model of feis efficiency rarely seen! Kudos to the organizers!

On Stage 1, Champ U10 and U12A have concluded and Under 12B is just beginning, and I have 3 Goggin-Carroll helpers running to get a status on stages 2-6 being held in the gymnasium, so stay tuned!

A minor note - The blog is a free service that I'm happy to provide between taking photos and will be updated as often as I can throughout the day. Postings will depend on the Feis Committee providing me access to the Official Results. I will also be "tweeting" out the results of the Senior Belt as soon as it's announced on Twitter. If you're not already following me look for me as "Steph RincePix" and get abbreviated updates there too! Twitter is an distribution service for text messages, so you can receive updates right to your phone.
